Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy received the British Designer of the Year Womenswear Award on Monday. The Duchess of Sussex, who made a surprise appearance at the awards night, gave away the award to the stylist. The star-studded ceremony was held at the historic Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, London.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, who is expecting her first child in spring, showed her baby bump in a black one-shoulder fishtail Givenchy gown. She wore the Givenchy piece to pay tribute to Clare Waight Keller.

Megan came on the stage to present award to Clare Waight Keller, who was also her wedding dress designer. Waight Keller personally thanked the Duchess in her speech when she received the prestigious British Designer of the Year Womenswear Award.

Meghan said, “I feel especially proud to announce tonight’s winner, who yes is a British designer leading on the global stage with vision and creativity, but also with incredible kindness which is why when I met her for the first time 11 months ago I knew we would be working very closely together.” She cradled her bump on stage, as Clare Waight Keller started speaking.

Keller was overwhelmed with Meghan’s words and said, “This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life… I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.”

Meghan has always admired Keller’s “timeless and elegant aesthetic”. Keller had designed her wedding gown in 2017. The dress was made of silk with three-quarter-length sleeves, an open boat neckline and a train with built-in triple silk organza underskirt. Her design famously featured a 16.5-foot silk tulle veil, which was hand-embroidered with flora representing each of the Commonwealth’s 53 countries.

Established in 1989, the annual British Fashion Awards is considered one of the biggest events on the European fashion calendar. Industry figures at this year’s ceremony included Kate Moss, Virgil Abloh, Victoria Beckham and several other popular people from the fashion circuit.

Donald Trump Wrongly Addresses Her Majesty as ‘Her Royal Majesty’

Published

Recently, US President Donald Trump announced a three-day visit to the UK in June. While releasing the press release, containing the announcement, Trump made a goof-up.

The statement by the White House caught everyone’s attention, even though the Buckingham Palace also released a statement regarding the visit. The White House’s statement referred The Queen as ‘Her Royal Majesty’ instead of ‘Her Majesty’.

“President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump accepted the invitation of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to visit the United Kingdom from June 3 to 5, 2019,” the statement read.

“This state visit will reaffirm the steadfast and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”

It further added, “In addition to meeting the Queen, the President will participate in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May. While in the United Kingdom, the President and First Lady will attend a ceremony in Portsmouth to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.”

The Royal’s fans were quick to point out the goof-up made in the press release by the Trump’s office and even corrected them. They said that addressing The Queen as ‘Her Royal Majesty’ is incorrect and instead she should be referred simply as ‘Her Majesty’.

The website of the Royal family explains the best way to address The Queen. “On presentation to The Queen, the correct formal address is ‘Your Majesty’ and subsequently ‘Ma’am’.”

The word ‘Royal’ is only used to address the members of the royal family, including the prince and princesses. They can be formally referred as, ‘Your Royal Highness’.

During the visit, the US President will be participating in a two-sided meeting with Theresa May and will also attend the ceremony in Portsmouth to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day, on 6th June 2019.

Along with the allies, who took part in the military operation in Normandy, Germany is also invited to attend the ceremony.

The US President has been mocked over the social media for his faux pas in addressing the Queen as ‘Her Royal Majesty’ instead of ‘Her Majesty’.

This is not the first time that Trump has made a blunder in relation with The Queen. During his previous visit last year, he kept The Queen waiting for 15 minutes before he arrived, while Her Majesty was seen checking her watch as she waited for Trump. He also broke the royal protocol, when he made a rude gesture, by walking in front of her.

Queen Elizabeth Celebrated her 93rd Birthday on Easter Sunday

Queen Elizabeth

The Royal family celebrated the birthday of Queen Elizabeth on April 21 by attending Easter Sunday church service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Although the queen’s birthday is officially celebrated on the second Saturday of June along with the mid-1600’s tradition of Trooping the Colour, her original birth date is equally important for the Royals.

The Queen “usually spends her actual birthday privately, but the occasion is marked publicly by gun salutes in central London at midday: a 41-gun salute in Hyde Park, a 21-gun salute in Windsor Great Park, and a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London,” said the monarchy’s official website.

Those present at the Easter Sunday included the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Anne and her two children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall along with their respective spouses, Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, and Prince Edward. Prince Harry also graced the occasion, but his wife Meghan couldn’t be spotted as she is expected to deliver the royal baby soon.

Prince Philip also couldn’t be seen at the celebrations. Prince Charles and Camilla couldn’t attend the event as they were in Scotland.

When Queen Elizabeth left the service, the crowd could be heard singing “Happy Birthday”. Birthday wishes from her grandchildren and other family members continued on social media.

The official Instagram account of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex @SussexRoyal wrote, “Happy Birthday Your Majesty, Ma’am, Granny. Wishing you the most wonderful day! Harry & Meghan,” along with a balloon emoji. The couple shared a slideshow of images of Queen Elizabeth with Harry and Meghan over the years.

The Instagram handle of Prince William and Kate Middleton @KensingtonRoyal posted a simple greeting with an old picture from Trooping the Colour. The message read, “Wishing a very happy 93rd birthday to Her Majesty The Queen.”

Prince Charles and Camilla also wished Queen Elizabeth by posting a series of photos on their account @ClarenceHouse, along with the caption, “Happy 93rd birthday to Her Majesty The Queen”.

Other members of the family also wished the Queen with sweet captions and old photographs.

Drake – From Rapper to a Curse on Footballing World

Published

Drake

Drake is certainly one of the finest artists that this world has been blessed with. The Canadian rapper made the world dance to his tune when his album “Scorpion” smashed records last year.

Though the rapper is still making the world dance, but his rhythm has completely changed within a span of months. As regulated all around the media, Drake has repeatedly posed for photos with footballers, only for their teams to go on and lose in the near future.

“All Roma players banned from taking photos with Drake until the end of the season,” as Roma jokingly tweeted in response to the curse that has went viral across media.

The recent example of his curse extends to the loss of French side Paris Saint-Germain by 5-1 to Lille, only a day after defender Layvin Kurzawa posed for a picture with the rapper.

The superstar on his “The Assassination Vacation” of Europe cursed a long list of players, who dropped significant points or went out of the competition after losing the match.

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang attended a Drake concert at The O2 in London three days before his side lost its Premier League game against Everton. Manchester United also made the list, losing to Wolves in the FA cup quarter-final only a while after Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba posed for pictures with Drake.

However, just like the red side of Manchester cursed, the blue – Manchester City, wasn’t spared. City’s striker Sergio Aguero gifted Drake with one of his shirts when the duo met in March, and the striker missed a penalty in Champions league against Spurs in the first-leg.

Interestingly, the curse continued in second-leg, with Aguero scoring a goal in dying minutes, only to be flagged-offside moments later, as the team’s dream of becoming European champions once again crashed.

Therefore, with the rapper’s curse causing trouble in the footballing world, it would be spellbinding to find out who will gather the courage to host him next.

Prince Harry and Meghan Might Move to Africa after Birth of their Baby

Published

Prince Harry

Last updated on April 23rd, 2019

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have recently moved into their new home Frogmore Cottage, near Windsor Castle. And, if the rumours are to be believed, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might move to Africa very soon for two to three years.

The advisers of the couple are working on a role that involves the Commonwealth, charity work and promotion of Britain. As reported by The Sunday Times, the couple would take a step forward and accept the new international role following the birth of their first child, due in a couple of days.

The “rock star” fame of Meghan and Prince Harry would help in drawing attention towards different causes.

The move is not likely to take place until at least 2020. The Times reported that “a decision on where they would be based is unlikely to be taken until 2020 when they have settled down with their new baby.”

The royal reporter, Richard Palmer, tweeted that Buckingham Palace has not denied the rumours of Prince Harry and Meghan shifting to Africa.

While the Duke has spent time in several African countries over the course of his life, he has spent a gap year in Lesotho, which he once called his “second home”. During the early phase of their relationship in 2017, Harry and Meghan used to especially travel to Botswana together.

The Sunday Times quoted a source from the palace stating “Discussions are at an early stage, but the plan is to find a new way of using their soft power abilities, most likely in Africa.”

While another source said, “There are discussions in palace circles about: how do we harness Harry and Meghan? How do you harness this phenomenon that has emerged? You make it productive.”

Amidst the movement speculations, there have been rumours about a rift between the senior royal siblings.

At the recent Easter Sunday church service, Prince William arrived at St. George’s Chapel with his wife Kate Middleton, while Prince Harry arrived alone. As the royal baby is expected to be born any day, Meghan chose not to attend the celebrations. The brothers maintained a distance from each other during the Easter Sunday appearance.

A spokesperson for the royal family said, “Any future plans for The Duke and Duchess are speculative at his stage. No decisions have been taken about future roles. The Duke will continue to fulfill his role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.”
