If not anyone else, President of the United States, Donald Trump has got the guts to praise his own work. Trump, reportedly used a holiday call to troops deployed overseas to pat himself on the back. He told reporters that he was thankful to himself on Thanksgiving.
Donald Trump has often embarked upon his excellency in services. Even back in September, he claimed at the UN General Assembly that what his administration has achieved, no other administration has ever achieved.
Trump made a call from his private Mar-a-Lago club, to speak with members of all five branches of the military to wish them happy Thanksgiving. During the phone call the president spoke about courts, trade and migrants heading to the US-Mexico border, and praised troops by calling them, “You really are our heroes.”
Apart from congratulating the troops, Trump also boasted about his achievements and told the troops how well he has done. He remarked, “I hope that you’ll take solace in knowing that all of the American families you hold so close to your heart are all doing well.” Adding, “The nation’s doing well economically, better than anyone in the world.”
US politics has been hit with a number of controversies, the longest of which, has been centric to the immigrants seeking asylum in the country. While, Trump earlier stated that the caravan moving towards the US-Mexico border consists of criminals, and letting them enter hampers the national interest, it was later made clear that there were no reports of them being criminals.
Therefore, while addressing troops, Trump remarked that it was “a disgrace” that judges had blocked his attempt to overhaul US immigration law, as he directed his strategy towards securing the border.
“You probably see over the news what’s happening on our southern border,” Mr Trump told one Air Force Brigadier General, stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, adding: “I don’t have to even ask you. I know what you want to do, you want to make sure that you know who we’re letting in.”
The world has consistently condemned Trump on his policies, calling them irrational, and hollowing the national interest, rather than preserving it. Ironically, the president, tapping his own back on Thanksgiving, also gave the indication that there might be something really problematic with his sanity.
